Business Development and Innovation

Business development between Ireland and Newfoundland has focused primarily in marine industries, information communication technology, joint manufacturing, tourism property investment, and joint film production. There is also a growing relationship between offshore petroleum researchers and geologists in both territories.

Marine Marine Institute Organized a trade mission of Irish Ocean Technology companies to St. John's. Participating companies were CSA Group, MERC Environmental, IMAR Surveys, Marcon and Aquafact. Marine Bord Iscaigh Mhara Organized a second Shellfish Trade mission to Newfoundland. Participating companies were Sofrimar, Good Fish, Morgan Seafood Processors, Errigal Fish Col, Atlanfish and Fasnet Mussels. 2005
Petroleum Research Petroleum Infrastructure Programme Collaborative research in the area of petroleum exploration, based on the offshore basin geological similarities of Ireland and Newfoundland. 2005 Memorial University, St. John's campus
General Enterprise Ireland Building on Enterprise Ireland's Innovation Relay Centre ( a tool to assist companies identifying technology transfer partners), create a process to be able to identify potential partners in Newfoundland. Marine NowCasting NavSim manufactures advanced autopilots for boats and signed a partnership agreement for the development and joint marketing of new products with NowCasting, a world leader in the supply of metocean forecasting to offshore industries and recreational mariners. 2004 NavSim
Manufacturing Oxyvent Bursey Manufacturing awarded contract to manufacture and distribute Oxyvent's cremin tanks (a system for removing gases from fluid radiated heaters and under floor heating systems) in the North American market. 2004 Bursey Manufacturing

Marine Marine Institute Marine Institute have MOU with Newfoundland's Centre for Marine Communication (CCMC).
